Prenda is a social, personalized approach to K-8 education. Partnering with charter and public schools, Prenda allows children of various backgrounds and needs to work with caring mentors in a safe, academically empowering environment. We take the microschool concept to its educational potential, with socially engaging and stimulating group work to help develop learners’ creativity, resilience, and resourcefulness.
- standards-based curriculum - mastery learning environment - personalized coaching from a guide
Began in Arizona, Prenda currently services over a hundred students from schools in various geographies—rural, suburban, and urban.
How does Prenda work?
Prenda partners with schools to operate local microschools, usually consisting of 8-10 students per class, mentored by guides in the students’ neighborhoods. Learners can catch up in areas they struggle, excel in their strengths, or simply explore learning in a less formal yet academically challenging environment.
How does the Partnership Work?
In a partnership, Prenda enrolls students into the partner’s school. From there, Prenda organizes the classes, finds and trains the guides, and takes care of all of the day-to-day educational needs of the students. The funding per student is split between Prenda and the school. There are no significant costs to the school itself.
